Having a great meditation chair is crucial to a sustaining meditation practice. Being able to practice without having to resituate your body a hundred times is crucial to getting into that zen like state we all enjoy! (PS if you’re a newbie and you’re not there--keep pushing! Staying comfortable will get you there!) If you’re looking for meditation cushions check out my guide here. Alright, here are my recommendations for the 2019 year.

meditation seat

Still Sitting Nomad Meditation Bench: I love the design of this one and the fact that you can take it with you for travels to meditation class or to a retreat. Something dope about it? An actual architect designed this one. Asmund Skard has been meditating since 1977 and created this for a modern design, stable sitting posture, adjustable height and lightweight for easy travel. All musts for serious meditators! Check it out here.

Alexia Meditation Seat:  Beauty + Functionality = First one on the list! This seat allows for a perfect positioning of your legs so you don’t have to open them up several times during your practice (goodbye sleeping legs!) It also supports your back so that you’re able to sit up without discomfort. Which as you know is a pain-in-the-neck (or should I say back?) when trying to get in the zone during practice. There are several colors available. Check them out here.

Friends of Meditation Extra Large Relaxing Buddha Meditation Chair: Damn this chair is comfy! Several cushions for support including a backrest and extra seated cushion for  sitting cross-legged. Ok, to be honest guys--I chose this not for only for comfort but guess what? An legit swami designed this chair! Swami Dhyan Unmesh--a registered Osho Meditation facilitator. If you haven’t heard of Osho definitely check him out. This one comes with a bag for travel but to be honest it’s a bit big to take with you. So the bags great for storage. Check it out here.

meditation seat

Gaiam Rattan Meditation Chair: This one was added to the list because it’s perfect for outside meditation. (And honey--if you haven’t tried outside meditation, don’t waste anymore time! Get out there and meditate! Nature supports you in relaxing and getting into sacred Self. So make sure outside meditation is a regular part of your practice.) Nothing new here to share. It’s got a great design, and made from a well-known reputable company Gaiam. Check it out here.

meditation seat

Seagrass Meditation Chair: I chose this one for two reasons--the size of it, and the design. This would look so cute in your meditation space. It’s low and perfect. Designed for cross-legged sitting--this one curves so that your knees end up higher than your body which makes for a comfortable practice. Sometimes you just want comfy and this one’s it! Check it out here.

meditation seat

bonVIVO Padded Chair: Are you looking for a great meditation chair for your office? This one’s it! Solid and professional looking, this meditation chair comes in three colors so that you’re able to coordinate in a way that feels good to you. It’s lightweight and folds down for easy portability so you’re able to keep an extra in the car for travel to the park or meditation class. Find bonVIVO’s meditation chair here.

meditation seat

IKUKO by Bluecony: This one’s beautiful and highly functional. And I love the name! The open sitting angle between thigh and torsos and the kneeling position allow for a straighter back when sitting--which means more comfort and a longer more sustaining practice! It also comes with a carry bag for easy travel. Bluecony got it right with this one! Check it out here.

meditation seat

Tatami Meditation Chair:  Ok, so Im sure it’s completely obvious why I love this. It’s gorgeous! And functional. You can use this for floor seating outside of meditation-although, I wouldn’t sit too long  with this one. This is perfect for meditators that sit for shorter periods. Not extended use. (There just isn’t enough padding for all that.) That being said, this is a great chair for sitting for 20-30 minutes through a guided meditation. Find this beauty here.

meditation seat

Friends of Meditation Vipassana Meditation Chair:  This chair allows for a prolonged sitting period. Lots of cushion, and its versatility allows for several different sitting positions. So you can sit cross-legged, or kneeling. Whichever feels better for you that day. I love the meditating Buddha that’s part of it’s design and the fact that you can fold it for easy storage and travel. Find this one here.

Alright! That’s it! I hope you’ve enjoyed this selection. If you’re more interested in a meditation cushion, check this post out here.
